OBTAINING YOUR TEST SCORES

RELEASE OF TEST SCORES

Your test scores will be reported to you, the institution(s) you indicated when you registered, and the test center at which you took the test approximately two weeks after the test date. Some scores may take up to five weeks to report because of problems with examinee registration information, payment, or other matters affecting the score report process. Because test scores are confidential and private, under no circumstances will your score be released over the telephone, in person, by e-mail, or by fax.

Examinee Score Report

Your score report will be mailed to the address indicated on your registration form unless you completed a Registration Information Correction Form on the day of the test. This score report will serve as proof of your having taken the THEA Test. No other form of proof will be provided.

Examinee score reports will be mailed by U.S. mail. However, you may choose to have your score report sent by an overnight delivery service rather than by standard first-class mail on the day your score report is mailed. See “Test Fees and Payment Policies” for information about the fees associated with this service. To request this service, complete the Alternative Mailing Method for Examinee Score Report Request Form and mail it to NES with the correct payment so that it is received no later than the test date. The request form is found in the printed registration bulletin and can also be downloaded and printed as a PDF document from the THEA Web site at www.thea.nesinc.com by selecting “Print Bulletin and Forms (PDF).” Please note that overnight deliveries cannot be made to a post office box. NES cannot guarantee that delivery by an overnight service will be faster than delivery by standard first-class mail.

If your social security number is not correct on your score report, write a letter to NES that includes your name, address, and date of birth; the name of the institution that you are currently attending; your signature; and the social security number that appears incorrectly. Mail or fax the letter to NES with photocopies of your social security card and your photographic identification to correct your THEA records. NES will send you and the institution that you indicate in your letter a corrected copy of your score report.

Score Reports to Institutions

Score reports will be sent through the electronic THEA Test Score Distribution System to each of the institutions you select during registration, in addition to the institution at which you take the test.

Test scores may be distributed by the registrar to faculty and staff at the institutions for use in advising, placing, and monitoring student progress in accordance with institutional policies. An institution will accept as proof of your test scores only reports that it receives directly from NES, whether requested by you or by the institution itself. The score report that you receive will not be accepted by the institution as proof of your test scores.

Please note that you may report your test scores to your high school by authorizing your high school to obtain your THEA Test scores electronically through the THEA Test Score Distribution System. You must provide written permission to your high school to obtain the scores. See your high school counselor for an authorization form.
