2007–2008
THE DAY OF THE TEST
| REPORTING TO
THE TEST CENTER |
 |
You must arrive at the test center no later than 8:00 a.m.;
the test session will end between approximately 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. A total of five hours of
testing time will be provided. You may use the time available to work on any or all of the
three sections of the test. The individual test sections (Reading, Mathematics, Writing)
are not timed within the test session. You may spend as much time as you want on each
section until the test session ends. If you are retaking only one or two sections, you will
have the entire five-hour test session to complete whichever sections you have not previously
passed. You may leave when you have finished testing.
On the day of the test, you may wish to dress comfortably in layers. This will allow you to adjust for the temperature at the test center, which may vary and may not be under the control of the test administrators. Please wear soft-soled shoes to help maintain a quiet testing environment. See “What to Bring to the Test Center” and “Test Center Rules” for more information.
Enhanced security measures, including additional security screenings, may be required by test center facilities. If an
additional screening is conducted, only screened persons will be admitted to the test center. If you do not proceed
through the security screening, you will not be allowed to test and you will not receive a refund or credit of any
kind.

Late Arrival Policy
|
Examinees will not be admitted late to the test session.
All examinees must report promptly
even if they plan to take only one test section. If
you are not familiar with the test center, contact
the test center for directions before the day of the
test and leave yourself plenty of time to find it.
If you are refused admission to the test center because
of lateness, you will be considered absent and will
receive no refund or credit of any kind.
You will need to register and pay again to test at
a future administration.
 |
Absentee Policy
|
If you are absent from a test administration and your Withdrawal/Refund Request Form was not received by the
end of the late registration period, you will not be entitled to any refund. If you are absent from a test
administration because of an emergency circumstance (e.g., illness, injury, hospitalization, death in the immediate
family), you may be eligible for a voucher to register for a future test date. You must mail NES written documentation that is signed by a professional licensed to diagnose or treat the emergency condition (e.g., physician), on that person's professional letterhead, and a letter from you indicating the emergency situation.
These materials must be postmarked within one week of the test from which you were absent. No refunds will be granted. If you have not received a response to your request by three weeks prior to the next regularly scheduled test date, it is your responsibility to contact NES.
Please note that work-related and athletic issues or other extracurricular activities will not be considered emergency situations.
 |
Test Cancellation Policy
|
In the event that it becomes necessary to cancel a test administration at a test center due to severe weather conditions or a natural disaster (e.g., flood, fire), the cancellation announcement will be posted on the THEA Web site at www.thea.nesinc.com. In addition, the cancellation announcement will be available as a recorded telephone message at (866) 565-4879 or (413) 256-2890. You will be advised by U.S. mail as soon as the test administration has been rescheduled.
Unless NES officially cancels a test administration at a given test center, the test administration will be conducted as scheduled. Examinees who miss a test administration that has not been officially canceled by NES, even if because of weather or natural disaster, will be reported as absent and will receive no refund or credit of any kind. Examinees who are absent from an administration and who wish to take the test at a future test administration must submit a new registration along with the correct fee.
