HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Are You Ready for College?

Updated Fall 2000

Are you ready for college courses? Not sure?

In Texas, you can find out if you have the reading, writing, and math skills you need to do college-level work through the Texas Academic Skills Program™—or TASP®. The TASP Test, which is part of the TASP program, is required—it is not optional.

Students must take the TASP Test, or an alternative test, before beginning classes at a public community college, public technical college, or public university in Texas.

The TASP Test is not an admissions test, however. You cannot be denied admission to a public institution of higher education based on your TASP Test score.

If you need to improve your skills, you are not alone. About one-half of students entering college need some help. Take the TASP Test while you are in high school so you can identify the skills you need to improve. You'll be confident that you are ready for college.

See below for more information about the TASP Test.
